Since 2004, Sirena Dance Troupe has been performing professionally with the vision of promoting the exotic traditional dances from the Island of Mauritius.
Sirena originally started with four members, with the intentions of helping out a friend who owned a restaurant
promoting Mauritian food and culture. We wanted to differenciate ourselves from other Sega groups leveraging on our knowledge of African, Latin and Caribbean dance, fused with Sega. It took approximately six months of intense training before our first performance. Our first event was a success and a few months later there was an increasing
demand for shows. Eventually, a few years later, Sirena Dance
Troupe recruited more members with various cultural backgrounds and dancing skills truly representing the multicultural ethnicity of Mauritius. We are proud to
announce that Sirena is the first troupe in Montreal to incorporate in our performances African dance, Maloya, Soca, Calypso, and Afro Cuban with traditional and modern Sega. A typical show can last more than an hour and we guarantee that the animation, music and dancing will never stop until the last song is over.
